SLU is a leading university with responsibility for the development of learning and expertise in areas concerning biological resources and biomaterial production. Regarding wood science and technology, the SLU group is one of the most renowned in Europe for studying wood biodegradation and ultrastructure, wood properties and durability, wood protection and modification and novel wood materials. The Department of Forest Biomaterials and Technology is responsible for the research area of Wood Science and Wood Technology. The orientation and research carried out in the research area is unique within the Forest Faculty and SLU. The Wood Science & Technology group is one of the few true material science orientated research groups and thereby ideally suited for involvement in the Biomaterials platform promoted by SLU for the period 2017-2025.
Role in the project:
In the LIFE B3 FURN project SLU will support the industrial partners in fine-tuning B3 Board production process.
